About
My Grandmother Dolores wrote food columns for various newspapers starting in the 1970’s and into the late 1990’s. Here I am sharing her writings full of advice on nutrition, and lots of recipes! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I like sharing them.
My Grandmother Dolores was from Abbyville, Kansas and lived most of her life on a farm in Sedgwick, Kansas with my grandfather. They had seven children together. She got her college degree in home economics and worked as a home economics teacher prior to having children, and taught again once her children were older. She was also a full time farmer’s wife doing all the things that that entails. She was also a house manager of a rehabilitation facility for many years. Later she started sharing her words of wisdom on homemaking, health and nutrition with others. She died in 2008 at the age of 92.

Hello. I’m reaching out to say “Hello”. I was just searching Dolores’ name, and came across you. I’m Shalako Challender, son of Kent. I didn’t get to know Dolores well, but I was thinking about her. I will have to take my time to go through this site, and get me some recipe’s as well. I hope to hear back from you. Shalako
